November 4th was Xi'an's annual 5k race for foreigners (the Chinese enjoy periodically racing us for their amusement). I was a little skeptical about a five kilometer run through the Xi'an smog, but the fact that the race was to be held on top of the ancient city walls made the event too cool to pass up. Thanks to weeks of intense training, Katie took first place in the women's under-50 division!
